"We stayed here for two nights in order to walk in Arthur's Pass and had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms are well equipped, comfortable and clean and ours had great views. The cabins are well away from the road so you get a good night's sleep. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is good - generous portions, great for walkers. Altogether good value.

"quakes had rocked Christchurch. However we had the best time staying at Bealey Hotel. The fact that this hotel sits looking at the most wonderful valley, nestled next to Arthurs pass (which was snowing went we arrived there) and the feel that you are in Middle earth! The hotel has a wonderful warm central dinning area come bar, pool table and general hang out area. This is where you can chat with the famous local 'Barry' and hear stories about this fabulous sparse land and the MOA history or chat to Marshell and Debbie the owners who went beyond the call of duty to make my brother a birthday cake. We all stayed in different styles of rooms my teenaged sons stayed with my brother in the back packer style Moa lodge ($60 NZ ) which was basic but all you needed with a common to cook if you wanted. I stayed with my partner in room 2 which we had 1 queen bed plus 3 singles - (we laid all our ski gear over every bed! ) This room gave us a separate bathroom and walk in area plus a kitchen style area, dinning table to sit all the family around and a balcony with the most amazing view to Middle earth. This was $150 NZ!! My Mum & Dad and other family members had the other Rooms either side which made it ideal for a family reunion. We made breakfast one day as I had forgotten that breakfast was included in this price, but its great to be able to chose to eat at the dinning room or cook for yourself depending on budget. This is the only hotel in Bealey Spur which is about 10 minutes from Arthurs Pass. The Castle Hill Rocks are fabulous and only a short drive - worth the look. Also Porters Ski was not far away however it was closed due to the crazy weather. We didn't care as we explored the beautiful forest walk near the hotel and had lunch at Arthur’s pass in the snow and waved to the Trans Alpine Train go by at 3.50pm. Everyone said we were crazy to go to Bealey- what's there? Well the spectacular views, the exciting clear fresh climate, the wonderful feeling that you are alive, the friendly staff at the hotel and a great stop over before heading west. Highly recommended to stay here -don't expect the Hilton but do expect a great comfortable stay with very friendly services and a great experience. The Pool Table and the fact that we could log into the internet was great for the teenagers., however they also enjoyed the walks around these fabulous rivers and rocks! Later in our trip we stayed in Queenstown and although very comfortable at the Novotel we didn't have the same experience of meeting the locals at the Bealey Hotel!"

"We had a room with lots of room for the three of us. Although the weather was a bit rainy we enjoyed our lovely view from our room. Debby the proprietor was very gracious. Only wish we could have stayed longer! The Lodge offered good food in a beautiful setting! "
